The Official Catgirl Island Mews & Announcements for February 2012, nya!
Aloha Y'all and welcome to Catgirl Island, nya! As mewsual, the forecast calls for the purrfect beachy bikini weather under the sunny warm Blue skies, and it is even the hotter soak in the hot spurrings should the mainland Winter tempurratures purrove nippier than you purrfur, nya!
February's occasions include the Diamond Jubilee of Queen Elizabeth II, George Washington's Birthday, Abraham Lincoln's Birthday, Purresidents Day, and the religious events include Imbolc, Nirvana Day, Shivratri, Mawlid al-Nabi, Purim, Tu B'Shevat, Ash Wednesday & Candlemas, nya!
It is national Bird Feeding Month, Black History Month, and among the special days are Groundhog Day, Freedom Day, Waitangi Day, and National Wear Red Day, which would be the good time to wear the Amaranth, Crimson, Scarlet, or Vermilion hued bikini, maillot or the yukata, nya!
The Violet is the flower and the Amethyst is the gem stone for February, so keep that in heart for Valentines Day, should you wish to give that special catgirl the flowers or the jewel, but if that is too purricey the gift, then we suggest the way to her heart & tummy is with the fresh fish dinner, nya!
You would be in luck because the bumpurr crop reeled in from the sea has included the purrized Stripurrs, Snappurrs, Groupurrs, Sea Bass, Sea Trout, the Blue fin & Yellow Fin, nya! Y'all could enjoy the sport of the catch or enjoy the purrpared dish at one of the island's restaurants, nya!
After the dinners, the sport & the catnaps purrhaps y'all might enjoy the stroll along the beach, riverwalk, gardens, or maritime forest amidst the local celebrations of Cat Tuesday, the Lantern Matsuri, the Amethyst Festival, or the swim with that special Fae or mermaid for ValenTides Day, nya!
There are also the fun events on the mainland we anticipate too, nya. We are so looking forward to another fun time at the 11th annual
WhatTheHellCon?! a free convention at purretty Guilford College in Greensboro NC, February 10th - 12th, nya!

Also on the mainland the following weekend is the annual Nevermore Film Festival February 17th - 19th at the recently renovated stately Carolina Theatre in Durham, NC which is the fun time of the international horror feature films, the short films, and mewsually the special guests, nya!
Speaking of the movies, Oscars Night or the American Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences Awards Ceremony is February 26th, so we plan watch it and cheer for our favorite movies, nya! An Oscar is also the tasty fish which seems the appurropurriate snack during the ceremony, nya!
Another big awards ceremony of the month is 5th Annual Mew Awards here at our Catgirl Island Purrforming Arts Center, nya! It is the nomination for the favorite stuff of 2011 in the various cattygories & sub-cattygories, nya! It will be featured as part of the grande sized February edition of--
The Mew: The Catgirl Critics' Media Mewsings, in which the Ladies of the Mew & Mike discuss the toys, mewsic, cinema & TV, anime, manga & comics, books & purriodicals,costumes, inspurrational heroines, famous nekomimis, and yummy fish, nya!
The Purrforming Arts Center is near the Catgirl Island Mewseum of Art, which has several mew images on display, nya! The Galleries 1-5 are the exhibits of Mike's illustrations & photography, and in Guest Galleries 1 & 2 are images by guest artists, with their kind purrmissions of course, nya!

Firstly is the Photoshop illustration titled the "Labrador Recliner", in which the dog relaxes on the recliner sofa after the hard day, to enjoy the new HD TV, the snacks and the chew toys amidst the holiday decor by the cozy fireplace, nya! The kibble in the bowl is of the chicken flavor, nya!
Secondly is the pen & ink drawing of the "Neko Bride & Groom", nya! This line art drawn with the Micron Pens was Mike's final commissioned piece of 2011, and intended to be a wedding gift! Mike also advised the client on the selection of the matte & frame for the purresentation, nya!
Thirdly is the pic of "Rebecca Kitsune", depicting our friend Rebecca Brogden in her kitsune / fox girl form, posing with her widdle wabbit friend in the pumpkin patch, nya! This was a pencil sketch inked with the Micron pens, then scanned into the Photoshop for the digital coloring, nya!
We have some wonderful mew art by Rebecca to mention in a moment, but lastly of Mike's mewest art is the "Jasmine Cake" pic, depicting Jeff Branch's fan-senshi character wearing the tight short Red qipao dress as she pops out of the big birthday cake amidst the balloons, nya!
She is the more emotional alternate personality of Talia, alias Sailor Vulcan, the purrotagonist of "The Adventures of Talia and Tanya", Jeff's serialized fiction based on Sailor Moon & Star Trek which y'all can read at his site

In "Winter Essence" the ornate faerie dances among the birch trees, with the scepter to summon more snow to decorate the grove, nya! Then we visit the "Purrky Spurring Meadow" where the catgirl is cutely clad in the ruffled floral purrint skirt & off shoulder halter top, nya!
Next is the scene of the "Summer Solitude" where purrched upon the boulders of the brook is the Green-tailed mermaid whose Jellycups bikini top matches her tail fin, and fin-ally of Rebecca's pics is the "Foxy Autumn", in which the kitsune / fox girl appurroaches us in the glade, nya!
